Frequently Asked Questions
What is Section 65B of the Indian Evidence Act?
Section 65B governs the admissibility of electronic records as evidence in Indian courts. Any digital document presented as evidence must be accompanied by a certificate as prescribed under Section 65B(4).
Is this document legally binding?
This tool generates a template that follows the Section 65B format. However, we strongly recommend consulting a legal professional before using this in any legal proceeding. The tool is an aid, not a substitute for legal counsel.
What is the SHA-256 hash for?
The SHA-256 hash is a cryptographic fingerprint of the document content. Any modification to the document will change the hash, providing tamper-evidence. This hash is also encoded in the QR code for independent verification.
How is the hash computed?
Using the Web Crypto API (window.crypto.subtle.digest) built into your browser. The hash is computed locally — the document content never leaves your device.
What information is in the QR code?
The QR code contains the SHA-256 hash, the transaction reference number, the generation timestamp, and the declarant's name. Anyone scanning it can verify the document's integrity.
Why do you only store the last 4 digits of my ID?
For privacy protection. The full ID number is not needed in the certificate template. Only the last 4 digits are included for identification purposes, as is common practice.
Can I generate this for someone else's transaction?
Yes. The "Relation to Transaction" field allows you to specify if you're the sender, receiver, or a witness. The certificate will be structured accordingly.
Is this the same as a bank-issued certificate?
No. Banks can issue their own Section 65B certificates. This tool helps you create a supplementary certificate when the bank's certificate is unavailable or insufficient. Both can coexist as evidence.
Does the PDF include an anti-tamper watermark?
Yes. The generated PDF includes a watermark stating "Generated by UPI Analyzer - Not a bank document" to prevent misrepresentation.
How much does this cost?
Completely free. There are no charges for generating legal-grade proof documents. No login or registration required.
Can I verify an existing proof document?
Yes. Scan the QR code on any UPI Analyzer legal proof to extract its SHA-256 hash. You can then independently verify that the document hasn't been tampered with.
In which courts can this document be used?
Section 65B applies to all courts in India (District Courts, High Courts, Supreme Court, Consumer Forums, and Tribunals). However, the admissibility ultimately depends on the court's discretion and the specific case.
What happens if I enter incorrect transaction details?
The certificate will reflect exactly what you enter. It is your responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the transaction details. Providing false information in a legal document may have legal consequences.
Are there any disclaimers in the generated document?
Yes. The document clearly states that it was generated by UPI Analyzer based on user-provided data, and that it is not a bank-issued official document. This transparency protects both the user and the tool.
Can I use this for insurance claims?
While this tool generates a structured document, insurance companies typically require bank-issued statements. This proof can be used as supplementary documentation along with your official bank statement.
