Frequently Asked Questions

How does subscription detection work?

It scans for same-amount charges to the same merchant appearing at regular intervals (25-35 day gaps). If a pattern appears 2+ times, it's flagged as a likely subscription.

What types of subscriptions does it detect?

Monthly recurring charges like streaming services (Netflix, Spotify), cloud storage (iCloud, Google One), app subscriptions, gym memberships, and autopay utility bills.

Can it detect annual subscriptions?

Currently it focuses on monthly patterns. Annual subscription detection requires more historical data and is planned for a future update.

How do I cancel a detected subscription?

Go to your UPI app settings, find "Autopay" or "Mandates", and revoke the mandate for the subscription you want to cancel. Contact the service provider if needed.

Why does it show my rent as a subscription?

If you pay the same rent amount to the same landlord every month, the algorithm correctly identifies the recurring pattern. You can mentally note these as intentional recurring payments.

What does the annual cost estimate mean?

It multiplies each detected monthly subscription by 12 to show you the projected annual cost. This helps you understand the true long-term cost of your subscriptions.

How much data do I need for accurate detection?

At least 2-3 months of transaction history is recommended. With just 1 month, the detector can only identify services charged multiple times within that month.

Can I export the subscription list?

You can use the Export tool to download all categorized data. Subscriptions are tagged in the export for easy filtering.

Does this work with UPI autopay mandates?

It detects the charges regardless of whether they're autopay or manual. If the same amount goes to the same merchant monthly, it's flagged.

Is the detection 100% accurate?

It's highly accurate for fixed-amount subscriptions (like Netflix at ₹649/mo). Variable charges (like electricity bills) may not be detected if the amount changes each month.
